CMI Graduate Returns to Las Cruces

Jul 19, 2017

Julian Alexander, a graduate of the Creative Media Institute at NMSU, began production in Las Cruces, New Mexico for his Master Thesis short film for Northern Film School in Leeds, England. Alexander is known for his CMI thesis short film Buffalo, which was accepted to the Festival de Cannes in 2015. Fellow CMI Alumni, Keagan Karnes and Jenn Garcia, were brought on to produce his newest film, Beat Blue, alongside Pilar Cartro Benavides and Tiffany Sherie Neeley. Karnes was also the Producer of Buffalo and has received national and international attention for multiple projects over the last couple of years. Karnes and Alexander began working together at Las Cruces High School.

Although the crew is comprised primarily of Las Cruces natives, the majority of them reside in Albuquerque. The Las Cruces Film Office was happy to have this crew back in their stomping grounds. The production shot 2 days in Las Cruces and 2 days in Albuquerque. Post-Production will take place in Leeds, England.

Featured Las Cruces locations included Palacio Bar, Coachlight Motel, and an alleyway off of 4th st.
