August 2nd, 2022 – The film industry has been hard hit by COVID-19. With widespread production delays, increased costs and challenges as a direct result of shutdowns related to the pandemic, it is essential to protect the health and safety of film crews and talent alike. The information received by regular COVID-19 screenings is critical for keeping film shoots safe and on schedule.
In order to be qualified for the New Mexico film tax credit, all productions must adhere to New Mexico’s Back2One film & television health safety initiative. Producers must follow the guidelines in Back2One and include COVID-19 testing as a part of their plan in order to be eligible for the incentive. COVID-19 testing is expensive, and when a film is working with a low budget, it can be daunting to try and allocate the funds to cover it.

WittVision Medical wants to help local filmmakers provide safe conditions for cast and crews, at no to low cost. To be considered for free COVID-19 testing by WittVision Medical, the film project must be local and independently produced, filmed in Las Cruces, and working within a micro-budget. We will work with approved projects to develop a custom-designed COVID-19 production program to best protect everyone on their set. Plans can include initial testing, weekly testing & health management, as well as in-person set environment consultations.
